bei geophysikalischen Bohrlochmessungen angewendetes radiometrisches Dichte- und Porositätsmessverfahren: Die von einer Strahlenquelle ausgesandte Gammastrahlung wird im umgebenden Gestein durch Streuung und Absorption proportional zur Zahl der Atome in der Volumeneinheit und damit proportional zur Gesteinsdichte geschwächt. Im Bohrloch wird die aus dem Gestein zurückgelenkte Streustrahlung mit Gammastrahlendetektoren registriert. Ihre Intensität ist bei bekannter Gesteinsdichte ein Maß für die Porosität. Mit dem Gamma-Gamma-Log lassen sich auch Gesteine unterscheiden, die unterschiedliche Dichte haben, aber in ihren elektrischen Eigenschaften nicht genügend voneinander abweichen (z. B. Kalksteine und Dolomite).
